Former India captain Sourav Ganguly does not think it was wrong to replace Rohit Sharma with Shubman Gill as the ODI captain. Rohit will be 40 in the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Ganguly believes that this is the main reason for removing Rohit. The former BCCI president also claimed that he and Rahul Dravid have also gone through the same experience.
Talking to reporters in Kolkata on Friday, Sourav said, "I do not know whether Rohit has been removed or something else. But it seems that it was discussed between the two parties. Because Rohit is an extraordinary captain. In the last two years, Rohit has won the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy. So there is no question about Rohit's performance. What came to the mind of the selectors is that Rohit will be 40 in two years during the World Cup."
